I met Rev. Prof. Andrew G. Gosler at a dinner at Oxford a few years ago — he’s an ornithologist who spent 30 years in the woods studying birds, and he completely lit up the room. He grew up Jewish, ditched religion at his bar mitzvah to go birding, and then decades later, Dawkins’ books accidentally pushed him toward Christianity — he was baptized in 2000 and eventually ordained as a priest. Andrew says: “Blue tits don’t need to be saved — they’re already in heaven. It’s only humans that need saving, and we need to be saved from ourselves.”
