Geeking on code, DNA and Starbucks with author John Somnez

John Sonmez is a code geek if there ever was one.

He is the founder of SimpleProgrammer.com and author of Soft Skills: The Software Developer’s Life Manual. John focuses on helping software developers, programmers and other IT professionals improve their careers and live better lives through coaching, podcasting and teaching.

John recently interviewed me after reviewing my Evolution 2.0 book. We cut right to the chase and got into

the nitty-gritty of DNA, biology, Starbucks, Darwinism, Bill Gates and more (I may have been ranting a little). Some highlights include:

  • Tumbling down the biology and science rabbit hole – 14:27

  • My lightbulb ‘code’ revelation that changed everything – 16:28

  • What the creationists and atheists really don’t want to talk about – 20:30

  • Why Neo-Darwinism is DEAD (and has been for 70 years) – 51:04

Enjoy:

Thank you for your e-mail on the presentation with Dr. James Shapiro. I
would like to join the event. However, the URL for registration is
missing. Please send me the URL.

I enjoyed reading your book entitled “Evolution 2.0”. I will read the
revised book “Evolution: A View from the 21st Century” as soon as it is
    published.
The proposal to Evolution 2,0 Prize by my friend, Kenji Ikehara, on the
origin of life was rejected because the experimental evidence is not
enough. He is now preparing to do experiments to prove his hypothesis.
I think experimental evidence supporting his idea is increasing. Some
of those are reported by Dr. Akanuma in Waseda Univ., Dr. Matsuo in
Hiroshima Univ. and Dr. Hongo in OIST. The book entitled “The First
Cell” by Schreiber and Mayer is also very interesting.
